It is well-known fact today, that the average life span is on increase almost in all developed countries in the world. For example the life expectancy of our children is now up to 79 years for women and 72 years for men. That means we need to prepare us for active longer lives. The problem is, how to keep fit ourselves in order to enjoy such long life. So from this viewpoint the concept of Quality of Life is getting much more importance.
The term Quality of life is used to evaluate the general well-being of individuals and societies. Scientists, experts on this area, understand the term of Quality of Life on two different levels, even though there is no final consensus over the definition of it. The first level covers a community or a country and includes standard of living - wealth, employment, built environment, physical and mental health and education of citizens, life expectancy, recreation and leisure time and social belonging. The second level includes health-related Quality of Life measures of individuals - perception of Quality of Life of individual's subjective feelings of his own health status: functional ability, psychological well-being, social network, social support and life satisfaction. The importance of those factors increases as we are getting older.
Actually, there is no fun living like an old person. Wrinkled face and skin, low energy, constant fatigue, low libido, sexual dysfunction, age-based diseases, debilitating and mental illnesses, weaker bones, excessive weight and body fat, limited or any motion without other's help, these are several effects of aging. In the detailed aspect the individual's understanding of Quality of Life could be reduced to his ability to function in the ordinary tasks of daily living.
So, if we consider about our life expectancy a lot of years far behind the time we finish our working life, there is necessary to take into account this fact and start to look ahead to healthy longevity in order to keep all aspects of our Quality of Life on the level we wish it should be. The possibility how to reach this target is already here - it is reasonable using of food supplements, vitamins and minerals. These are really strong weapons in our hands in the struggling with ageing processes.
On these days is modern to look about 10 - 15 years younger than is one's actually age. Of course, such looks would be not possible if the body is sick or in bad physical condition. There must be a harmony. Hence to keep the body in healthy condition is basic and this is exactly the way how can food supplements, vitamins and minerals help us to reach this target.
To keep our mind and body young and look much younger than is the real age is important for many reasons. Another reason could be that due to very dynamic development on the jobs market and with bad influence of economic crisis a lot of older people lose their job and they need to look after new one. Particularly this viewpoint will have even more importance in the next future, because based on expected longevity and higher life expectancy several governments consider to postpone the age limit for the retirement, probably up to 68 for men and maybe for women also. Under such condition to keep ourselves in perfect mental and healthy condition up to such high age to be able to perform all working duties on the comparable level with much younger colleagues must be the rule. On the other hand, what is even more important, it is impact of young and healthy looks and feelings on your private life. This is about to enjoy holidays at the seaside with swimming in the sea, hiking, cycling, dancing, skiing in the winter for fans of it even in the age after seventy. So, I would say, this all is not reachable without reasonable using of food supplements, vitamins and minerals. This is up to us to get the facts about nutrition, exercise, attitude and social network which support healthy ageing. Taking personal responsibility for our own journey into greater maturity creates new opportunities to take control over our lives.
