Nutritional Food Supplements - Tips For Taking and Storing

By Robert Rojas

You can buy the best nutritional food supplements that money can buy, but they won't do you an ounce of good if they sit in your cupboard unopened. The real secret to getting the most out of your supplements is taking them on a consistent basis. A lot of the benefits derived from nutritional food supplements don't appear until after months of taking them on a regular basis.

You can get a general idea of how many pills to take by reading the directions on the label, for example: take two tablets two times a day with food or it may recommend on an empty stomach. In the case of fat soluble vitamins such as vitamins A and D, they must be taken with some food that contains fat in order for them to be absorbed properly. Also, in the case for water soluble antioxidants like vitamin C, it's important to take divided doses three times a day (morning, afternoon and night).

How to Store Nutritional Food Supplements:

You've taken the first step and purchased high quality supplements from a reputable source and have probably spent a bit of money in the process. Please do not store these valuable health items where they could be comprised! Below are some easy to remember tips for keeping your nutritional food supplements potent for as long as possible:

*Avoid excessive heat, light and moisture. While, it may seem prudent to store these items in your refrigerator it may have detrimental effects due to moisture condensing in the opened bottle each time they are removed from the fridge and opened. While this could be avoided by allowing the bottles to come to room temperature before opening ,it would be inconvenient and time consuming.

*Never store supplements in the medicine cabinet in your bathroom! Excessive moisture and heat from the shower and sink can easily penetrate the bottles and degrade your supplements.

*The best storage place for your supplements is in a kitchen cabinet away from the range and oven.

By following these simple tips for taking and storing your nutritional food supplements you will give yourself the best possible chance of getting the utmost value from this important investment in your health and well-being.

Genetic Human Food Supplements - A Revolution in Nutrition

By Stefan Dessalines

DNA-based or genetic human food supplements are changing the way food supplements are made and offered to consumers. This technology refers to the personalization of food supplements by taking DNA samples from a client and creating custom-fitted products based on the DNA. One company is leading the way in developing genetic human food supplements and it is Genewize Life Sciences through its LifeMap Nutrition(TM) System.

To be healthy and disease-free all throughout your life you must always strive to eat a balanced diet. Eating a balanced diet is one way to ensure that you are getting all the nutrients that your body needs. If you eat a healthy balanced diet you are automatically lowering your risk of acquiring diseases such as heart disease and cancer. A healthy and balanced diet can also help prevent obesity. Of course, maintaining a healthy and balanced diet is easier said than done. This is because of the many temptations that are present almost everywhere such as high sodium junk foods and sweets. But if you really love your body and your health you will do everything to stay away from food that you know will not bring you any good.

You must be able to distinguish the foods that are really good for you from those that you simply crave for. To develop a healthy and balanced diet, you must be aware of the nutrient contents of food. Foods contain different nutrients. One of the clues that you can use in trying to choose nutritious foods is their color. For example, the colors of vegetable can tell you about the nutrients found in them. It is wise therefore to buy different colored vegetables to make sure that you are getting a wide array of nutrients.

Variety is the key to having a balanced diet. Fruits and vegetables are good but you should mix it up with carbohydrates like pasta and rice and protein-rich food like meat and dairy products. You must also add a bit of fat to your diet.

But if you feel that you are still not getting enough nutrients then you should consider taking food supplements. Not sure what supplements to take? Then try the genetic human food supplements offered by LifeMap Nutrition(TM) System of Genewize Life Sciences. By providing tailor-fitted products, genetic human food supplements take away the guesswork in nutrition.

What Are Genetic Food Supplements?

By Stefan Dessalines

Have you heard of personalized or genetic food supplements? These are nutritional supplements that are developed using DNA samples taken from clients. The result is a personalized or genetic food supplement that is customized to the needs of an individual. One company pioneering this technology is Genewize Life Sciences through its LifeMap Nutrition(TM) System.

Our body needs vital nutrients, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, proteins and even fats for it to function well and defend itself from diseases and infections. Nutrients come from various sources. The most accessible source of nutrients is food.

Problem is, not all of us are eating nutritious foods every day. In fact, because of lifestyle or other reasons, modern mans diet is significantly devoid of the most important nutrients that the body needs. Even those who eat supposedly healthy food may not be getting enough nutrients because of the fact that the soil today contains far less nutrients than the soil of 100 years ago. It has been stressed time and again that eating a balanced diet is one of the secrets to a longer, disease-free life.

Our lifestyle can also prevent us from getting proper nutrition from food. For example, smokers and people who regularly drink alcoholic drinks may need more nutrients, particularly Vitamin C, than those that they are getting from food. Other factors such as pollution and stress can also significantly raise the demands of the body for more nutrients.

People with serious medical conditions also need significantly more nutrients than most people. People dealing with cancer for example may need high doses of Vitamin E to improve their condition. This is because Vitamin E is an antioxidant that can significantly deter the effects of free radicals which are believed to be a cause of cancer.

An answer to the problems of people who can't get enough nutrients from food is food supplements. Food and nutritional supplements provide nutrition that regular foods of today are not able to provide. There are many available food supplements out there. So many that choosing the right one can be difficult.

So why not choose genetic food supplements that are personalized to be sure that the nutrients you are getting are just what you need. Thanks to genetic food supplements such as the one offered through the LifeMap Nutrition(TM) System of Genewize Life Sciences, personalized nutrition is now within reach.

Why All Natural Food Supplements May Be The Most Important Thing You Put In Your Body

Sunday, August 28, 2011 3:56:00 AM Posted by Food Supplement 0 comments

By Jeremy Reeves

Although I'm not a big fan of supplements, I believe that all natural food supplements can be a great addition to your current (or upcoming) diet.

The world we live in today is an extremely nutrient-poor world. I wish this wasn't the case, but unfortunately it is.

In the early 1900s, the food quality was absolutely amazing. The nutrients were literally over 10 times as potent in foods as they are today. Also, they weren't pesticide and chemical ridden! This is why I believe all natural food supplements are a huge must. You simply can't get enough nutrients into your body, no matter how much food you eat.

This is especially important for those who exercise on a regular basis. Not only can all natural food supplements increase your energy, resulting in better workouts, but they can better feed your muscles to grow and get bigger!

Many people argue that buying supplements such as multivitamins results only in "expensive urine". However, this is simply not the case. Yes, of course some of the nutrients will come out in your urine, but most of them will get used by your body. The only ones that are excreted are those that can't be stored in your body for later use.And for the price of all natural food supplements, it makes sense to protect your body from disease and sickness, even if some of it isn't used.

There are many types of supplements designed to help you get more nutrients into your system, but I believe all natural food supplements are one of the most important.

Without enough nutrients in your system you're going to sick more often, die earlier, hurt more, and overall live a lower quality of life than you would if you'd invested in some all natural food supplements.

Make it a point today to grab yourself some all natural food supplements, as well as exercise if you haven't already. There are many great programs available which also teach you how to eat healthier at the same time!

Jeremy Reeves realizes the importance of all natural food supplements, but he also knows how important it is to get proper exercise. You need both to create synergy in your body.

Health Food Supplements Promise Increased Wellbeing

By Curtis Price

One of every three people in the world is suffering from Protein- Energy Malnutrition (PEM) or micronutrient malnutrition also known as "hidden hunger". Like several nutritionists and doctors, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American Medical Association (AMA) have admitted that modern diets should be complemented with vitamins, minerals and other health supplements to tackle ill-health.

Studies and research conducted in almost every country has proven that several nutrients are lost or reduced on consuming fast-food and convenience-food. With the growing awareness on different types of diseases and deficiencies, a marked increase has been recorded in the consumption of functional foods, super foods, fortified foods, dietary supplements and probiotics. Sale of vitamins - C, D, E and B complex, drinkable yoghurts, energy bars, ready-to-eat salads, fortified juices and drinks in addition to bottled mineral water has sky rocketed in the past two years. However all health food supplements do not come with the government's stamp of approval. The FDA comes into the picture only when a manufacture self-reports an issue with his product or a health concern is raised.

It has been proved through researches worldwide that toxicity in the body can also increase with high dosages of vitamins A, D, E, C, Pyroxine and Iodine. Therefore health food supplements should only be taken under proper guidance because the effect may vary between individuals, depending on factors like age, sex, physical condition and the combination in which supplements are taken. As a general principle, "kitchen sink" combinations should be avoided. Unless necessary, it is advised that natural health food supplements be added to daily diet.

Researchers at National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), India, have conducted extensive research on health food supplements and concluded that spices are extremely beneficial to well being:

• Debitterised fenugreek seeds: Delay or impair glucose absorption when 25gms are consumed by diabetic subjects.
• Turmeric and its active principle called curcumin: Possess antimutagenic, anticarcinogenic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant properties. Ingestion of 2gms per day enhances body defences.
• Onion and garlic: Rich source of compounds, like diallyl sulphide, diallyl disulphide, allium and ajoene. These have antimicrobial, hypolipidemic antimutagenic, anticarcinogenic and antioxidant properties. They stimulate enzymes in the body that detoxify mutagens/carcinogens.
• Ginger: Helps ameliorate conditions like rheumatic disorders, inflammation and gastrointestinal discomforts. Studies also suggest it to be usable as a chemo-preventing agent.
Other well researched health food supplements are:
• Chlorophyll: Builds blood, renews tissue, promotes healthful intestinal flora and activates enzymes that produce vitamins A, D, and K.
• Wheat Grass Juice: Has detoxifies the body and has a high concentration of beta-carotene and vitamins such as E and K.
• Alfalfa: Helps assimilate protein, fats and carbohydrates. It alkalizes and detoxifies the body, especially the liver.
• Barley grass: Contains folic acid, pantothenic acid, beta carotene and vitamins C and E.
• Spirulina: Helps to protect the immune system, lower cholesterol and facilitate mineral absorption. It is high in chlorophyll, protein, beta-carotene, B12 and nucleic acids.
• Flaxseed oil: Rich in Omega-3 and Omega-6. Provides essential fatty acids required for normal cell structure and function.
• Dark chocolate: If consumed in a moderate amount, helps to lower high blood pressure and keep the heart healthy. It is rich in flavonoids.
• Curds/Yogurt: Provides the digestive tract with beneficial bacteria that help to fight cancer, build bones and boost immunity. These are probiotic foods.
• Oats: Consumption of this food lowers the risk of heart diseases as it is rich in fibres, it also helps muscle growth.

In a nutshell, consuming a variety of edibles with the right health food supplements leads to increased longevity, proper hormonal functioning and physical as well as mental efficiency.

Dietary Food Supplement

By Lauren Catrell

A dietary food supplement is intended to provide nutrients to your body that are either missing from the food you eat or you are just not consuming adequate amounts for many different reasons. The reasons are as vast as our lifestyles. Various lifestyles can dictate why you need to increase your nutrients. For instance, an athlete expends a lot of energy working out and needs additional nutrients. Someone who is pregnant needs added nutrients for the baby.

Dieters trying to lose weight decrease their food intake. Children need more for growing bodies, just watch a teenage boy eat, his body is constantly telling him to add more nutrients by screaming I'm hungry. The elderly do not expend as much energy, they eat less so they are not getting enough nutrients. Medications can also suppress the appetite. You could run the gamut on the different diets that people eat anywhere from fast food to raw whole foods. Even if you are eating a very healthy diet, you may just want to compliment it to assure you are getting enough nutrients every day.

In order to consume all the nutrients our body needs each and every day we would have to consume a wide variety of diverse foods. Different categories of food contain assorted nutrients in varying amounts. Taking a dietary food supplement does not take the place of eating. It is meant to add and enhance the nutrients we provide our body with everyday. There are just as many different types of a dietary food supplement as there are different types of foods in quality and nutritional value.

These supplements come in different forms, such as liquid, powder or in a pill. Ones that come from natural whole foods are derived from plant sources and contain the highest nutritional value. All their elements are balanced and work together synergistically, just like in nature. They consist of phyto nutrients, the organic components that occur naturally in plants and are thought to have health promoting qualities. More common ones are beta carotene found in leafy greens, sweet potato, and carrots; lycopene is found in tomatoes. Macro nutrients that are required in larger amounts as in amino acids, proteins, macro minerals, essential fatty acids, carbohydrates and fats. Micro nutrients are minerals or trace elements that are required in smaller amounts. Antioxidants that prevent cellular oxidation and enzymes that convert molecules into a usable form.

Now consider this, over the years science has discovered many different nutrients, and they are always revealing new ones. Envision the possibilities of all the healing elements from natures valuable plant sources that science has not yet discovered.

Providing healthy nutrients everyday is vital for rebuilding your cells and creating health. If you want to be on top of the health game, choosing a supplement that comes from whole foods is a wise choice since they provide such a wide range of nutrients. Imagine getting a complete spectrum of these nutrients from one dietary food supplement.

The number of people suffering from the improper digestive system is much higher, all over the world. The digestive system does not function well to absorb nutrients properly and to crush the food consumed. This is caused by the low level of secretion of belly acids or the presence of toxic or low level of enzymes to break the food particles. Although there may be other causes, these three are the common ones.

The digestive problems can be recovered, if you initiate to intake the nutrient food, slowly. Generally, diet rich in fiber and organic matter is highly recommended to enhance the digestive powers. The decision is in your hands to pick out the best possible supplements to enhance your physical problem.

The supplements should be taken along with the meals, since this is the time when body is ready to absorb many nutrients, as they are stimulated by the intake of food. If you take up them during the meal, they will easily move in the exact pace, blending with your food and produce fantastic result of essential nutrients, at the proper time.

If you are keen on taking vitamin supplements, make sure to take thrice a day. Normally, they are highly soluble in water and easy to intake. Remember to intake them during the meal time, as they will function to process your food and extract all the nutrients from them. There are also fat soluble vitamins which have to be added with the fatty food items. Read the instructions given on the label to get the complete worth of your supplement pack.

Some of the supplements act as a barrier with some specific food, when you consume them together. So you should be aware of all forms of vitamins and their pairs. Here comes the checklist to follow when you intake vitamin supplements:

* Vitamin A, vitamin D and vitamin E - ensure to consume them with fatty and oily diet pattern.
* Vitamin B brings amusing result when you consume them immediately you are awakened. If you want to take during the sunlight hours, take with some whole grain combination.

Consume Adequate Vitamins and Minerals Through Whole Food Supplements

By Anthony Antolics

The concept of health is a hot topic during the recent times of economic fluctuation and rising medical expenses. In an effort to remain far from the expenses related to medical field many individuals are searching for new ways where they can improve their health.

You have the option to build muscle and strengthen your endurance with the introduction of a routine exercise program into your daily routine. Another way to improve your health is with the introduction of vitamin or mineral supplements. Vitamins and minerals are often referred to as the building blocks of life and regular consumption of these can boost energy and immunity defense.

The issues with these vitamin and mineral supplements come from the methods they are extracted or created with. Most vitamin supplements are generated in the lab instead of extracting the natural vitamin from the many fruits or vegetables it may be concentrated in. The creation of artificial nutrients can create the vitamin focus that many companies are looking for in their products, although the digestion of these artificial nutrients often prove difficult for the body.

In addition, the artificially created vitamins and minerals eliminate the opportunity to take advantage of the other naturally occurring benefits that are present in fruits or vegetables. It is clear that individuals take vitamin and mineral supplements because they are unable to process the necessary fruits and vegetables required in a daily diet. Whole food supplements are an option available to consumers that not only capture the original vitamin of desire but also the other vitamins and minerals a food will offer.

When you learn about whole food supplements you will discover many benefits that they offer to a consumer. Passing on the artificial nutrients of a lab the whole food supplements consist of concentrated vegetables and fruits. What this offers for the consumer is the best naturally occurring nutrients compressed into whole food supplements to allow your body maximum digestion and absorption of these nutrients.

As an added bonus to use whole food supplements an individual also benefits from the other natural nutrients that are present in natural foods. This is a result of a whole food supplements producing company not extracting the nutrients of a natural food but compressing or concentrating the whole food into a whole food supplements pill formation. This development from artificial supplements to whole food supplements will offer an individual the best way to keep their body supplied with the necessary amount of nutrients that are easy to process and offer the best results.

When you go to a vitamin and mineral counter in a grocery store or pharmacy you are often met with a ten foot long wall of vitamins. Half of the vitamins and minerals on this wall are new to the observer, causing the question of whether a person is truly taking all the vitamins and minerals they need with their few artificial supplements.

The Benefits, Side-Effects and Uses For Whole Food Supplements - Are They Worth It?

Friday, August 19, 2011 3:29:00 AM Posted by Food Supplement 0 comments

By Henri K. Junttila

A lot of people are raving about whole food supplements, but are they really up for the job of providing your body with the nutrients that you require? In this article I will take a closer look at whole food supplements and if there are any better alternatives out there.

What Kind of Side-Effects Should You Expect?

Apart from the usual that you should look out if you are under any special medication or have allergies, there are hardly any side-effects of taking whole food supplements.

If you're after this kind of supplement, make sure you only purchase high-quality, organic and proven effective products, because there are a lot of stuff out there that contains chemicals and harmful additives.

What Are the Uses and Health Benefits?

Whole food supplements dry and grind real food into a fine powder, which you can then consume and get the health benefits of different foods.

This can provide excellent health benefits, but the problem here is that you cannot consume some of the amazing specialty nutrients that are available today. I will talk more about that later on.

Some of the health benefits that you can expect from whole food supplements are the most common ones, such as: more energy, focus, general sense of well-being, improved memory, joints, stomach function and sleep.

Are Whole Food Supplements the Best Option for You?

I have nothing against taking them. But I personally prefer a stronger alternative, which is a multi-vitamin formulated with a synergistic formula in mind.

What this means is that the nutrients are taken from food and combined together in such a way that they act together, just like in nature. For example, if you eat a tomato and want to get lycopene, you're not just getting lycopene, but also different minerals and vitamins.

This is the process you want to look for in any health supplement today, because they provide the best health benefits out there.

Look for a supplement that can give you vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, flavonoids, carotenoids, neuronutrients, trace elements, anti-glycation agents, herbal extracts and specialty nutrients, such as resveratrol and SAMe.

These are what I use on a daily basis. I have even recommended them to my close friends and family, who are also noticing the health benefits. This is cutting-edge technology, so it is really effective.

I am not saying that you will for sure see the health benefits that I have, I can only share my experiences and the rest is up to you.

If you're interested in learning more about the best multivitamin supplement, visit my website, where I share what products I have personally been using daily for several years.

Today, the most significant concern of every people is their health and wellness. Anyone would love to confidently say that they are healthy, but the truth is, being healthy is so difficult to achieve nowadays.

Even with the continues growth of technology and modern living, it apparently become more harder to achieve a good health or improve our health, due to a lot of man made factors and abuses, like water pollution, air pollutions, vices like drinking, smoking, lack of exercise and more. And our eating habits also has a significant role in our health. Our lifestyle, and what we eat and how we eat really matters. Have you thought of your diet recently? Are you aware of what have you been eating? Or do you eat healthy foods that consists vegetables and fruits, or you're helping some local drive-thru food chains get a good profit out of you? We are not getting any younger, our health deteriorates as we age too, so you better take a second look at your eating habits before it's too late.

We all have a busy hectic schedule, thats understandable, its really hard to maintain a healthy lifestyle especially when it comes to our nutrition. Or even if you have an extra time to do some physical activities or exercise, still its not enough to be considered as healthy. In America, millions of people are not partaking enough of their suggested dietary allowance of vitamins and minerals, and you might be one of them. If so, you may take advantage of the several food supplements available and change your usual diet to a healthy or nutritional diet.

Buying Food Supplements Online

By Vincent Norman

There is a lot of attention on getting healthy, eating better and exercising. Getting started is often the most difficult part. The only way to begin is with one small step. One of the easiest things to do to help you towards a new healthy lifestyle is to add food supplements into your diet. You can even get great deals by buying food supplements online.

Four Steps for the Best Supplements

Finding food supplements online is easy, but finding good ones is difficult. You can buy food supplements for cheap or splurge on hundred pound supplements. It is not really the price, though. You have many considerations to make. In fact, there are four key things your should consider when buying food supplements online.

The four steps that you want to go through before actually buying a supplement are:

- identify the supplement you want
- talk with your doctor
- find a good retailer
- make your final choice

Identify the Supplement you Want

You want to start with finding the food supplement that you need. There are many to choose from. You can research the options so that you find the one that will benefit you in the way you desire. You want to ensure that you are choosing a supplement that will not harm you and that will give you some benefits.

There is no need to take a supplement that will do nothing for you. You may not need a Vitamin supplement because your daily eating habits allow you to get the right amount of each needed supplement. On the other hand, you may be lacking in other areas that require attention. Make sure that you do your research and find what supplements are best suited for your needs.

Talk with your Doctor

Before taking any supplement you need to consult with your doctor. Supplements are not regulated and even though they are natural products, they can still cause side effects or interfere with other medications that you are taking. You need to have a talk with your doctor to see if it is safe for you to take supplements.

Find a Good Retailer

Not every place that sells supplements is a good place to buy from. You want to choose a retailer that you can trust. You want to know they are selling good products and that you can trust them. This is especially true when shopping online. You want to look into the retailer and ensure they have a good reputation. You want to be sure that billing is secure and that once you place an order you will get what you paid for.

Make your Final Choice

Once you have found the type of supplement you want, spoke with your doctor and found a reliable retailer, you can make your final purchase. You will probably have various choices in different brands. You should find a little out about each brand and make your final choice and purchase. In the end, you should be rather pleased with your purchase and get some great health benefits from your new supplement.

Food Supplements and Your Health

By Remy Vixamar

Despite multiple researches on the importance of nutritional supplements on health, some people still raise question "it is necessary to take nutritional supplements to balance my diet?" The answer is direct and simple, yes; along with your diet, you need food supplements for your body to have enough nutrients it needs to function properly. In addition, you need to consume daily a variety of fruits and cruciferous vegetables (steam cooked is recommended).

Why you need to take food supplements?

Whether you are rich or poor, living in a developing or developed country, it is difficult to intake the amount of nutrients needed from a regular meal. Even healthy eaters cannot get the daily amount of vitamins and minerals recommended. The reason of this malnutrition can be either a lack of time or lack of knowledge about nutrition. The small minority who know how and what to eat do not have enough time to do so; they find it hard to sit down to consume a variety of fruits and vegetables each day. A multi vitamin supplement is a better way to balance your diet.

Vitamins are nutrients essential for proper functioning of your body; a deficiency can lead to serious health problems. For example, B12 reduces the chance of pernicious anemia; Folic acid participates in the formation of cells and prevention of cardiovascular disease by eliminating extra homocysteine in your body. In addition, Folic Acid reduces the risk of birth defect in pregnant women. It is recommended to take a food supplement especially if you:

o Are constantly subjected to stress and fatigue,
o Do not eat a well balanced diet
o Live in a large metropolitan and are exposed to toxins daily
o Skip meal all the time
o Are exposed to poor quality air
o Are a smoker
o Are a heavy alcohol consumer
o Suffer from frequent colds and flu
o live in a tobacco smoke environment
o burn a lot of energy or workout vigorously
o Excessive amount of caffeinated drinks,
o Have a family history of cardiovascular disease or cancer;

The need of your body in vitamins and certain minerals are constant. To stay or become healthy, you need a sufficient and regular supply of vitamins and minerals to supplement your foods. Increase in your diet vitamin C and B complex (B1, B2, B3, ..), minerals (zinc, ... , etc..), essential fatty acids (EFAs), especially Omega3.

Although these symptoms may vary from one person to another, deficiency in vitamins and minerals can cause serious abnormalities such as fatigue, loss of appetite, difficulty concentrating and irritability, disturbed sleep, hair loss, heart palpitations / arrhythmia's, skin disorders, teeth and gum problems, and much more.

What Are Whole Food Supplements and What Are the Benefits They Offer?

By Russell Dean Cantwell

Food supplements are tablets, capsules or powders which are made from the entirety of a certain food. As you may guess from the word whole, these supplements are not extracts or simply parts of these foods, but consist of the entire fresh fruit or vegetable, preferably organic reduced to an easily ingested form.

While they are not quite as beneficial as the fresh produce they're made from, they are the next best thing and as we are constantly reminded by nutrition experts, whole foods mean better health. This is particularly true of a diet rich in fresh, uncooked fruits and vegetables.

Other than their wealth of vitamin and minerals, fresh produce contains compounds which boost immune function and reduce our risk of cancer and other disease.

However, most of us don't get anywhere near enough fresh fruit and vegetables in our diet. When we do eat these foods, they're usually processed, overcooked or have been sitting in storage for too long and are missing a lot of the nutritional value of fresh, raw produce.

Whole Food Supplements Are Not Isolated

Whole food nutritional supplements are not just the isolated nutrients you find in a vitamin pill or a mineral supplement.

Whole food nutritional supplements provide all the nutrition and health benefits of whole foods: vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, phytochemicals, enzymes and even fiber!

You don't find isolated nutrients in nature. These nutrients are found in whole foods and it is in this form that they offer the greatest benefits to your health. Whole foods are more than the sum of the nutrients they contain. There is a synergy between them which makes whole foods healthier and their nutrients easier for your body to use.

Supplements Are Convenient

While it's always good to add more raw fruits and vegetables to your diet, whole food supplements let you get more of the nutrition you need even when you can't manage to eat as healthy as you'd like. You don't have to go to your local produce market and you can enjoy all of the benefits of fruits and vegetables which may be out of season.

We all know that raw fruits and vegetables are good for us; but a lot of people simply don't have the time to eat right and others just don't like eating them. Whole food supplements are the answer.

Should We Take Food Supplements?

By Roy Thomsitt

The question of whether we should take food supplements has been debated endlessly, and there is no single answer that all will agree to. When I first took an interest in diet and health, and supplementation, more than 20 years ago, the standard view of doctors was that you do not need food supplements. Eat and drink a good diet, and you will get all the vitamins and minerals you need - that was what doctors would say.

That was the public view anyway, although I could not help but note, when I visited the home of a doctor I knew in England, that he had a good supply of multivitamins and minerals on a kitchen shelf. He also had a couple of other vitamin bottles, vitamin E and one other I fail to remember after all this time. Interestingly, he had always been a "scotch in the evening" man, but had suddenly switched to red wine. I made no comment, just smiled inwardly. I was a red wine drinker anyway, and I had been taking a general multivitamin and mineral for some time already.

By the early 80's, the health food revolution was already under way, and the food supplement industry preparing for rapid growth over the next 25 years. I ignored what doctors were saying, and started taking a general multivitamin and mineral supplement. I did so through common sense and logic, for the following reasons:

1. A good diet may have provided all the vitamins and minerals needed 200 years ago, so in a way the doctors were probably right.

2. The human body had evolved very slowly over thousand of years, always with plenty of time to adapt to environmental changes. Over the last 2 centuries, though, and especially the last 50 years, the human body has been bombarded with massive quantities of toxic substances, chemicals in our food, water, and the air we breathe. Could evolution possibly have dealt with that through evolution, in such a short space of time? My common sense told me no. While a virus can change rapidly, the human body cannot.

I decided to err on the side of caution and have taken a general vitamin and mineral supplement ever since. Have I benefitted from that long term use? I am certain I have, but that is not science. However, I did observe a notable drop in incidences of colds and flu. When I worked in London, I would get 7 or 8 bugs a year; that quickly dropped to 2 or three after taking the supplements, and with a faster ability to recover. That had a knock on effect of reducing incidences of iritis, which tended to follow a cold or flu when I was run down.

One thing I noticed a few years later was that two large cysts I had had since a teenager, or maybe earlier, had gone. One enormous cyst by my knee had quietly disappeared, and a smaller one on my arm too. Any connection? There is no scientific evidence that there is a connection. But those cysts were seemingly there for life, and the only change I could think of that could have made them disappear was the addition of multivitamins and minerals.

Things have come a long way since then, and doctors are more likely to advise patients to use a vitamin supplement. In the Philippines, where I now live, doctors encourage the use of multivitamins from a young age, or single supplements, such as folic acid for pregnant women, when needed. At least I no longer feel like a supplement rebel.

Whole Food Supplements: Fact or Fiction

By Rivanone Koz

Almost all of the vitamins on the market, even those claiming to be "whole food supplements" are not natural or from food at all.

Conventional vitamins are isolated or synthetic forms of very specific components which are standardized and incomplete sources of nutrients. The dosages found in conventional vitamins are much higher, often thousands of times higher than what you would find in food. Synthetics and isolates are very cheap to make, take up little space in a capsule or tablet, are standardized and have stable shelf lives. For these reasons, they are convenient for vitamin manufacturers to use and they are anything but natural.

Another reason these synthetics and isolates are so widely used is that FDA labeling requirements are drastically skewed to be in favor of them, making it very difficult for anyone to try to produce a supplement using natural ingredients. In some cases, a label claim cannot be made based on whole food ingredients unless there is a standardized source added. These labeling requirements are very crippling for most companies making a truly natural supplement where the whole foods are actually the source of nutrition in the product. Vitamin C is an exception to this law and as a result there are several supplements on the market where the vitamin C content is naturally occurring, but only for a select few whole food supplements.

The laws governing supplements in the United States are not only skewed away from natural vitamin sources they are also quite arbitrary. This is most problematic for consumers who take it upon themselves to actually read a label. Labeling requirements make it very difficult to distinguish between natural and unnatural sources of vitamins. Some sneaky companies use this to their advantage and will spike yeast with synthetics, in their "fermentation or culturing process" then sprinkle foods in too. They can then legally call themselves whole food supplements.

Believe it or not, laws governing vitamins in this country are some of the most lax in the world. In fact many ingredients commonly used in American supplements are outlawed in Asian countries. There are pros and cons to this situation. On one hand a lack of regulation allows for people access to alternative medicines and protocols that might not be available find if one is depending on the FDA and the big drug companies for ultimate access. At the same time, a lack of regulation makes it very easy for manufacturers to put anything they want to on the shelves regardless of integrity or consequences.

A good example of this is the use of the words "proprietary blend," on the label. It's perfectly legal for a supplement company to use this term rather than list their actual ingredients. For all you know the proprietary blend could be saw dust and Kool-aid mix.

There was a movement started less than 10 years ago by the few truly natural whole food supplement companies out there pushing for the FDA to implement a Naturally Occurring Standard. The hope was that additional standards would allow nutrient claims to me made from naturally occurring sources of vitamins and also that there would be Daily Recommended Values established that are based on food not just standardized vitamins as they are now. This movement apparently never caught on but there are a couple of things you can do as a consumer to find truly whole food supplements.

Keep in mind the following label alerts when shopping for whole food supplements:

1) If a company brags that they are "whole food created, cultured or fermented" it means they spike their food with standardized vitamins.

2) If the label claims give you higher than 100% DV the sources are probably not from food. (The exception to this could be vitamin C which can be found naturally occurring in relatively high amounts.)

3) If any of the ingredients are listed as "Proprietary blends," you don't really know what is in there.

4) If a product lists dozed of vitamins and dozens of foods they are probably using standardized vitamins with a tiny sprinkling of fruits and veggies to make the product look like it's packed with nutritious food. Think about it. There is only so much space in a tablet, how much food could you actually be getting?

The nutrients are naturally occurring which means you get the whole-complex of vitamins that comes in the whole foods and at dosage levels found in food. There is no culturing process necessary. In reality, if a whole food supplement contains whole food sourced vitamins (peels and all) there are actually hundred of nutrients naturally occurring in them... even if the FDA does not allow them to be claimed on the label.

How to Get the Most From Your Whole Food Supplements

By Martha Dear

Whole food supplements are natural and nutritious supplements that are made and extracted from whole foods. The vitamins and minerals that are found in these supplements are not isolated, which means that there are a lot of various nutrients that can be found in them.

This kind of nutrition that are made from whole food have structures that are highly complex with a combination of antioxidants, enzymes, coenzymes, activators, trace elements and a lot more (yet to be known and discovered substances and factors) that are synergistically working together in order to enable the vitamin complex to perform its job in the body.

Most people are aware what whole food supplements are but they do not exactly how they can get the most from these kinds of supplements. In order for one to get the best out of whole food supplements, they should first assess what kind of brand they are using. There are some brands of nutrition supplements that are not providing the right kinds of nutrients that the human body needs.

Every person should look carefully into details regarding the organic foods that were used in preparing this kind of supplement so that they will know as to whether or not the product indeed has all the necessary nutrients. Since organic foods are the ones most responsible for providing the body all of the essential vitamins and minerals, it is important to use the best suited fruits, vegetables and herbs and to eliminate the usage of chemicals while preparing the supplements.

Whole food supplements should be processed correctly (using the right amount of heat, temperature and pressure) in order not to minimize the loss of nutrients. Synthetic food supplements can cause harm and damage to the body -especially when taken over a longer period of time-since food supplements that are synthetic don't have as much nutrients as they should.

Manufactured isolated nutrients can also cause imbalances and numerous problems to the body simply because they are not natural and contain chemicals that are foreign to the system. When the body receives foreign substances, the first response would be to get rid of them immediately. That is now mainly the reason why our urine can turn florescent yellow once we intake such kinds of supplements as well as foods that contain chemicals.

Whole food supplements are not made to be replacements for real and organic foods. These are made to serve as an aid to the natural food that consume. Since not all essential vitamins and minerals are found in the food that we eat every day, it is important to have whole food supplements that will provide the missing nutrients.

Whole Food Supplements - Getting Back To The Natural Sources For Vitamins And Minerals

By Paul P Stewart

Taking whole food supplements is a good way to start back onto the path of good health. Up until the first part of the 20th century, most people a day diet that was rich and whole foods. Most people had at least a large garden while others had an entire farm from which to choose whole foods.

Many of them raise their own cattle, pigs, and poultry for sources of protein. People that lived inside large cities usually had access to whole foods through a vegetable market, fishmonger, and meat butcher.

Canned and frozen foods were not an option since technology was only in its infancy. Going out to a restaurant was a luxury that many people never experienced. People got their nutrition from eating food straight from the farm.

Today's diet is much different. Ever since the mid-part of the 20th century, people's lives are much busier. It is easier to open a can, use frozen packages, or buy a meal at a restaurant than using whole foods in our home.

That is sense of convenience is great. But it also has diminished the amount of nutrients that American citizens get from natural sources. In addition, many food manufacturers add artificial chemicals, flavorings, and additives to make food better supposedly.

What it has done though is introduced things into the American diet that should never have been there. The US have increasing amounts of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and other medical conditions related to a poor diet. To fight against these problems, many people are turning to whole foods supplements.

Whole foods supplements contain nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that come entirely from food sources. Many of even the best natural supplements have some filler products, synthetic vitamins, and other things that you might not want it supplements.

Getting supplements that derive completely from a food source is one way to avoid some of these issues. These supplements come from concentrated food sources, namely fruits and vegetables.

Whole food supplements contain a wide variety of natural substances that help the body regulate itself. Instead of relying on artificial means, use these supplements to fortify a healthy diet.

For those people who cannot seem to get past the convenience of processed foods, adding supplements made from whole foods sources is one way to improve their overall health. It is also a good way to start easing out of the process diet and into one, which contains more whole foods.

The Reasons For Food Supplement Regulation

By Paul S Baguley

Food supplement regulation and the reasons for it are a vital area of knowledge for nutraceutical companies to understand and follow if they want to remain compliant in all aspects of their business.

Supplement regulation affects all aspects of nutraceutical products (or food or dietary supplements as they are commonly known by consumers), including the research and production processes to labelling and marketing. Supplement regulation is often seen as a grey area by consumers and some parts of the medical industries, however in the European Union, the Food Supplements Directive of 2002 helps to ensure that the products sold by the nutraceutical industry are safe to consumers in terms of quality and also in terms of the recommended dosages that the supplements labelling describes.

There is much continued debate about the benefits to the human body when taking additional food supplements, and many commentators believe that a healthy well balanced diet of vegetables, dairy products, meat, fish and grain based foods are all the body requires to sustain itself in a natural way. Sceptics of food supplements maintain that adequate protein, vitamins, fibre and carbohydrates can be found from these food groups alone.

However, this argument may be plausible in the defence of healthy people, but as is widely known supplement regulation is there to ensure that irrespective of the supposed benefits of taking food supplements, that at the very least, the products won't harm individuals.

Supplement regulation is also important because it protects those groups of people who suffer from medical conditions to which additional dietary supplements can make a proven and positive difference. Such conditions that therefore benefit from supplement regulation might include medical problems like arthritis for example. For this condition, food supplements like cod liver oil can help improve body joints whilst additional Calcium can help improve bone strength.

How Do Dog Food Supplements Work?

Tuesday, August 9, 2011 3:10:00 AM Posted by Food Supplement 0 comments

By Nick Currer

A dog food supplement is an additional food which is given complementary to a dog's existing diet. Supplements are given to pets generally for health reasons in the same way that we take supplements for various health concerns or to keep a healthy and balanced immune system to help stave off illness. They differ from 'treats' in that they are formulated to comprise vitamins, minerals and other ingredients designed to enhance the overall well-being of a dog and sometimes to target specific illnesses or complaints.

There are many brands of supplements available that promote different aspects of health and they can come in many different forms including tablets, pellets, concentrate powder and liquids (solutions). Probably the most well-known ailment is arthritis since this is common to humans as we age and is also common to our dogs. Other common ailments supplements are given for include allergies, digestive problems, skin problems, coat problems, weight problems and dental problems.

The diet for domesticated dogs has changed dramatically from their descendants the grey wolf and whilst modern day manufacturers strive to create a healthy balanced diet for pets many veterinarians have recognised that some of these dog foods can be lacking in essential nutrients and complementary food may be recommended to supplement the diet. This can be for simple maintenance purposes or it could be to treat a specific ailment.

The inter-breeding of domestic dogs has also left a legacy of known disorders amongst breeds many of which can be treated by feeding a supplement to your dog. The most common of these problems are osteoarthritis, arthritis and degenerative diseases such as hip and elbow dysplasia. Skeletal problems of this nature are common in older dogs, however can be seen to affect a large proportion of the domestic dog population.

James Spratt created the first commercial dog food in around 1860. He called it the 'Patented Meat Fibrine Dog Cake' and began the first mass production of a prepared dog food. In fact this first commercial dog biscuit was the first dog food supplement given in addition to a dog's normal diet (in most cases likely to have been scraps, raw meat, bones and available vegetables and fruit). Inspired by the reaction to this initial offering James Spratt continued to refine his recipe and develop more complete dog food for all kinds of dogs. Spratt's created many formulas targeting different life-stages and went on to sell a range of other dog products. Spratt's was eventually acquired by General Mills in 1950.

Spratt's huge success in the prepared dog food market introduced many more manufacturers hoping for similar success and led to the multi-billion pound market we see today. Industrial and process development enabled new forms of packaging and distribution to service the market including tinned dog food which could be shipped all over the world.

The availability of ingredients increased significantly after World War II and so too did the range of foods and number of manufacturers. The ease and convenience for owners coupled with the scientific advancements in nutrition saw demand steadily increase for an array of dog foods and dog food supplements to meet owners requirements.

As scientific developments enabled advancements in human nutrition, so too have advancements been made in nutrition for dogs and complementary dog food products (supplements). In the last twenty years the popularity and range of dog food supplements has increased through the sharing of information and as clinical trials revealed many ingredients used to treat human ailments could also provide significant benefits for our canine friends.

There are essentially three types of supplements available:

(i) 'Pharmaceutical' grade supplements can only be dispensed with a prescription from a vet (frequently patented products which generally include powerful concentrates of ingredients) and should only be given to a pet if prescribed by their Veterinarian.
(ii) 'Neutraceutical' supplements are available over-the-counter (and on the internet). These are likely to contain 'active ingredients' which have various effects on a dog's health and a formula is normally targeted to assist with a specific illness (ingredients are likely to include natural compounds which cannot be patented by pharmaceutical companies).
(iii) 'Herbal' remedies which contain natural plant and flora extracts which may have a history of certain health benefits.

Barker and Wags LeapDOG Natural Joint Nutrition is a neutraceutical maintenance supplement specifically for dogs suffering from or likely to suffer from any form of joint pain including arthritis, hip or elbow dysplasia. The formula includes glucosamine and chondroitin alongside other active ingredients, vitamins and minerals in an easily digestible oat-based pellet form that is quickly absorbed into a dog's body. LeapDOG can be given to all dogs for a healthy more active life. Results are often seen within 3 weeks from taking the supplement.

Whole Food Supplementation For a Natural Eczema Cure

Monday, August 8, 2011 3:08:00 AM Posted by Food Supplement 0 comments

By Teresa M. Shaw

No matter how healthy we may think we are eating, we are probably still not getting the vital nutrients needed so that we may heal or maintain health. Adding a whole food supplement to our diet is an important factor for a natural eczema cure. This will ensure our nutrient intake is at optimal levels.

Ideally, it would be grand to be able to eat perfect nutrient-rich and toxin-free food. This would be food that was grown in pristine settings where the soils are high in natural minerals, no pesticides, herbicides or chemically derived fertilizers are utilized, no pollutants in the atmosphere and no contaminated water to be absorbed. But, back to the world as we know it, our foods of today are grown with quantity instead of quality in mind. So, even though we have good intentions of trying to eat as best we can, our conventional food still is greatly lacking for which our body hungers and needs to sustain life in our greatly toxic world.

Prevalent foods of today are convenient, prepackaged and highly processed lacking the basic nutrients needed. Our ancestors in the past have consumed much healthier food, allotting to less diseases. Today, diseases are on the up rise and that includes eczema! Consequently, this is happening because we cannot fend off disease and promote healing because we are so undernourished!

If you have been an avid researcher on vitamins and nutrients that may help in a natural eczema cure, you have probably stumbled across the idea to supplement with certain nutrients such as the antioxidants beta-carotene, vitamins A, C, E and zinc. However, most of the commercial supplements that are most available to us are artificially manufactured. This process concedes to nutrient uptake reduction and also includes more chemical toxins that we should be trying to avoid. What we do need is to get these and other nutrients in a whole food form.

Whole food supplements are concentrated compounds of food that our bodies recognize as being real food. The body is a complex marvel and knows how to assimilate real food to produce energy and to help with its natural functions. Isolated, lab-produced vitamins (or even supplements that claim to be all natural but are, in fact, still just extracts of food nutrients) have the tendency to be considered foreign to the body. So, the body actually tries to eliminate them instead of utilizing them. The minerals in these synthetic supplements are usually sourced from rock. The body does not digest these very well at all, either. Only minerals from plants are recognized and absorbed. Not only does a whole food supplement offer easily absorbed nutrients, they supply the body with extra nutrition not found in synthetic, lab-produced supplements because it is processed out. For example, whole food supplements supply various bio-active chemical compounds found in plants, alkaloids, live enzymes, absorb-able micro-minerals and much more as opposed to their synthetic counterparts that have insufficient levels of these or none at all.

In choosing a high quality whole food supplement, make sure they have the Good Manufacturing Practices stamp, which ensures safety. You may also want to look at a few other factors, including:

* Utilization of the flash-freeze dried method or other cold processing

* Sourced from wild-crafted and/or organic plants

* Includes Essential Fatty Acids, good bacteria for gut health, a large variety of greens, sea veggies and especially all ingredients must be listed as food!

We really need to divert our concerns from worrying about what is triggering our eczema outbreaks and start concentrating on what we need to give to our bodies so that they can function naturally to fix what is broken. Let our bodies do what they are designed to do, such as self-healing all of our health conditions -- eczema being one of them. Adding a good quality whole food supplement daily will ensure sufficient nutrition to aid in the process of a natural eczema cure.

Whole Food Supplements - Learn About The Benefits Of Taking These Supplements

By Jason M Paulsone

Whole food supplements come in many different varieties and forms and they can have many great health benefits. The fact that these kinds of supplements are made from natural foods and generally do not have any artificial ingredients or chemicals means that our bodies can handle them much better and thus they can provide us with the nutrients that we need.

Green drinks are a type of whole food supplement and they consist of many super foods in concentrated form. The have a dark green appearance and can come in a powder or tablet form depending on which you prefer. It is important to consume large quantities of green foods since they are alkaline so they have a neutralizing or cleansing effect to our system since our bodies generally tend to be too acidic. Consuming a green drink supplement is the best way to get the greens you need daily because it can be difficult if not impossible to consume enough high quality green foods without using some type of supplementation.

Visit any local health food store or even grocery store and you will find a variety of whole food supplements from garlic supplements to fish oils such as the omega fatty acid supplements. It is important however to do your research into the companies providing these whole food supplements to ensure that they are reputable and have a track record of success. Do not experiment with new untested companies.

Also make sure that you consult with your doctor before taking any new supplement especially if you are on medications as there may be side effects you will want to watch out for.

Aloe vera is another whole food supplement that is believed to have many great health benefits. It is generally found as a drink that you consume daily in small quantities and it is believed to help with keeping your bowel moving and regular in addition to providing you with multiple vitamins and minerals. It can be a great way to help with constipation problems.

Ginseng is believed to help in many areas of your health also such as improving your level of mental sharpness and alertness. Our digestive system handles whole foods very well and knows how to easily break it down and absorb it whereas supplements that contain many synthetic chemicals can be difficult for our digestive system to deal with and they do not get absorbed as well. Consider some sort of whole food supplementation as a regular part of your diet as it can be quite beneficial to your overall health and well being.

Awaken to the Benefits of Natural Food Supplements

By Kevin Pederson

If health food supplements are supposed to be natural solutions for dietary deficiencies in human beings, all natural health supplements should come from human food.
After all, fish eat fish food, dogs eat dog food, cats eat cat food, cows eat grass and dung beetles eat dung. That, by the way is how its always been.

Naturally it would be safest for humans to supplement their diet with human natural food supplements. Consider the overall benefits - weight loss, no obesity, natural cures, healthy lifestyle, weight control. What more would one ask for?

When natural really is natural

Carrots and whole grains are natural and healthy for humans that have been proven. So why do so many supplement manufacturers use strange ingredients in their products that have no safe, long-term, non-toxic history of use? The answer is not complex really. There is no other market for this kind of junk, so, as no one else wants it, it's cheap and plentiful.

what scientists don't really know are the long-term detrimental effects of these non-human foods. Who really wants to be a guinea pig? For instance, let's take dunalliela salina thats used as a carotenoid; it grows in stagnant polluted water that no living creature eats. Its use in food supplements is based not on nutrition but on profit margins and hype-marketing.

Natural foods and food supplements are strong marketing expressions. And the majority of marketers have no issues with concocting tales, stretching the truth and misusing these words to promote their "unnatural" products particularly if it increases their profit margin.

Human food chain nutrition

If you want nutritional foods that go way beyond natural, you ought to consider whole food and even organic foods. These natural food supplements use traditional fruits, vegetables and whole grains as their source of ingredients. They are even guaranteed to be free of all toxins and have been proven to work. Hundreds of thousands of satisfied people in dozens of countries around the world have been using natural supplements for over 50 years to look and feel their best - naturally.

Benefits of natural food supplements

They encourage access to key nutrients that prevent disease. Thus they eliminate the population of diseased, malnourished customers.

They make artificial food supplements more expensive, putting their purchase out of reach of more consumers.

With the loss of vitamin sales, a lot of artificial health retailers will be forced out of business. This is good for the health industry at large. The fewer health shops, the less competition there is for prescription drugs.

They set the stage for the future banning of artificial food supplements that prevent disease such as blueberries, broccoli and garlic.

They allow for the arrest and incrimination of key proponents of bad health (drug manufacturers, retailers and consumers), removing them from the public stage so that they no longer have a voice.

They allow natural health critics to use circular logic to attack the drug industry.

What's a Whole Food Supplement?

The reason why whole food supplements have started quickly gaining popularity is because many people are finally beginning to educate themselves on the supplements they're taking and how their bodies process them. You see, most supplements are synthetic isolates of the real vitamins and minerals that your body can't utilize and absorb very well.

Most multivitamins and other supplements made from poor synthetic isolates have less than 50% efficacy, meaning that less than half of the vitamin is absorbed by the body, and even less is actually used by the body. The rest of it is basically waste, depending on the quality of the synthetic. It's starting to become common knowledge that the real thing is always better than a supplement. Eating a fresh orange is pretty much always better than popping a vitamin C pill, for example. Whole food supplements aim to be as close to the natural as possible, helping your body to absorb and utilize as much of the nutritional vitamin and mineral content as possible. Even though you might find them to be more expensive, they're also more powerful, which gives you more for your buck. A standard cheap multivitamin is basically the fast food of the supplement world. Don't sell yourself short.

So what is a whole food, and what is a whole food supplement? A whole food is defined as a food which is unprocessed or unrefined. Basically, it's a food that's in its natural state. It should be obvious why they absorb easier in the body, because they seek to mimic the natural state of food. A whole food supplement, in most instances, is nothing more than a fruit or vegetable that has been compressed and encapsulated into a pill. In order for a supplement to truly be a whole food supplement, it should be made from a food that has never been cooked or processed. As you can imagine, this raises many quality standard issues, since a lot can go wrong with mass producing a raw food product. If you're in the market for a whole food supplement, look for a company with high levels of quality standards and certifications.

In a way I'm against whole food supplements, since in the long run, it's really better to just change your habits. People love the ease of taking pills and multivitamins, but if they would just be intentional about grabbing an organic piece of raw fruit or a raw vegetable for a snack every day, they could largely reduce their need for supplements of any kind. It's really not that difficult to have some carrot sticks or raw green beans sitting in a bowl on the desk of your office. Think about how many nutrients, vitamins, and minerals you could be getting into your body just by changing your habits and eating a few raw organic fruits and vegetables at times during your day.

The other thing I like about this approach is the good, filling fiber you get from munching on raw vegetables throughout the day. Because raw vegetables often have lots of indigestible plant matter, or fiber, snacking on them throughout the day greatly reduces your calorie intake. Since your stomach is always partially full of indigestible plant matter, you can't fill it with as much of the other stuff. So essentially, by munching on whole foods throughout the day instead of just taking whole food supplements, you're putting yourself on an unconscious diet plan as well. It's a win-win situation.

But if you really do want to try a whole food supplement, there are a few highly recommended ones out on the market. Like I said earlier though, just make sure you buy a whole food supplement from a supplier that has high quality standards so you can make sure you know what you're getting. Don't just buy the first whole food supplement you come across. Take some time reading whole food supplement reviews.
